Inclusive Employment

At Foreword Coffee, inclusive employment begins before a person is hired. We design our hiring, training, and workplace support to help every team member learn at their own pace, build confidence, develop skills, and grow according to their strengths and potential.

Patience, Empathy & Creativity

Patience, Empathy & Creativity

Our workplace culture is guided by patience, empathy, and creativity. We recognise that everyone learns differently, so we seek to understand each person’s challenges and find creative ways to help them succeed while upholding their dignity and respect.

Inclusive Hiring Process

Inclusive Hiring Process

We focus on a person’s potential to contribute meaningfully. Our hiring process considers each candidate’s attitude, abilities, support needs, and readiness for work. Where needed, we work with caregivers, job coaches, and partners to better understand how each person can be supported to succeed in the workplace.

Person-Job Fit

Person-Job Fit

Everyone begins their work journey differently. We match each person to suitable tasks based on their strengths, learning pace, and support needs. During the first three months, employees build the skills, routines, and confidence needed to succeed, starting with manageable tasks before progressing towards greater independence and responsibility.

Clear Communication

Clear Communication

Clear Communication

Communication is key to inclusion. As employees have different language, cognitive, and communication needs, we keep instructions clear, check for understanding, and adapt how we communicate. This may include visual cues, shorter instructions, repeated practice, sign language, or other appropriate supports to ensure messages are understood.

On-the-Job Training

On-the-Job Training

Every day at work is an opportunity to learn and grow. Through on-the-job training, employees build practical workplace skills while gaining confidence and independence. With coaching, practice, and the right support, they progress at a pace that is meaningful for them.

Inclusive Training & Consultancy

We deliver training programmes that equip persons with disabilities with practical workplace skills. We also partner organisations through consultancy, helping them build more inclusive workplaces by improving job fit, adapting work processes, and strengthening their ability to hire, train, and support persons with disabilities.
