Our Story
April 19, 2017
Foreword Coffee was incorporated.
August, 2017
We opened our hole-in-the-wall cafe within National University of Singapore (NUS) and provided internships for persons with special needs to work at our cafe.
August, 2021
We received the Enabling Mark Award (Platinum), a national accolade presented by SG Enable as a recognition of our disability-inclusive practices. We were recertified in 2024 and achieved the Platinum (highest) tier again.
December, 2022
We launched our “Barista-as-a-Service” at a corporate office as a model to place persons with disabilities at in-house corporate coffee kiosks.
January, 2023
We opened our first flagship outlet, First Story Cafe, at Serangoon North. We started to roast our coffee beans at our cafe with a redesigned roasting process enabled by the Stronghold S8X Smart Roasting system.
June, 2024
We opened our 2nd flagship outlet at Esplanade Mall, within the arts district of Singapore. Together with the launch of our new flagship outlet, we also reveal our refreshed brand.
June, 2017
We are registered as a social enterprise member of raiSE (Singapore Centre for Social Enterprises) as a business with a clear social mission.
May, 2019
We opened doors to our cafe within Temasek Shophouse (TSH), a social impact hub located in central Singapore.
February, 2022
We became Singapore’s 17th certified B-Corp, joining a global movement of businesses with verifiable social and environmental metrices.
December, 2022
We were awarded with the DBS Foundation Grant in their 2022 cohort to scale up our social impact.
November, 2023
We were recognized as the “Social Enterprise of the Year” in the biennial President’s Challenge Social Enterprise Award (PCSEA) 2023.
