Impact Report 2023

2023 was an encouraging year.

The highlight for us was definitely being recognised as Social Enterprise of the Year 2023 in the biannual President’s Challenge Social Enterprise Award (PCSEA). Our team has shown resilience and adaptability as we moved out of Covid-19 into the new norm.

We like to thank you – our supportive partners and customers – for journeying with us, and we hope to overcome a challenging 2024 ahead.

Return and Reuse

We highly encourage our customers and clients to return our glass bottles after they have consumed our drinks during events, and we will wash, sanitise, and reuse for the next events. By doing so, we can reduce the number of new glass bottles that we are using, and help to lengthen the lifespan of a reusable product as much as we can.

Giving Waste a Second Life

One of the ways we repurpose waste is by turning discarded milk bottles and caps into beautiful and functional furniture. Each set of furniture (1 table & 3 stools) consists about 200 milk bottles and caps, produced by local company Semula. They can be found at various locations, including First Story (flagship cafe) and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

Other furniture are also consciously chosen based on the materials. Some of those include recycled plastic and organic wood fibre, while others are made of cardboard.

Reducing Disposable Waste

We are dedicated to making environmentally conscious choices and choose to serve our drinks in double-walled paper cups. These cups are used for both hot and cold drinks, and eliminate the need for cup sleeves, reducing disposable waste.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our suppliers, who are carefully selected based on their own sustainability practices, such as the use of FSC-Certified paper and bagasse straws made from sugarcane pulp instead of traditional plastic straws.

Bring Your Own Cup

We believe businesses play a large role in nudging consumers towards more sustainable practices and hence we promote the Bring Your Own (BYO) movement by providing incentives for customers at all cafe locations.
